"Hey, Ya" by Outcast is going to become that go-to 2000's nostalgia song that movies about the 2000's always play, the way you always hear "Hungry Like the Wolf" in movies set in the 80's.Įarly 2000s style is already making a bit of a comeback in fashion and R&B. Greta Gerwig has a movie she directed that takes place around 2002, so we're starting to see that 2000's nostalgia creeping into movies.
The Social Network (2010) was an early one, set in 2003-2004 and pretty much nailed the time period. In a couple of years, we'll be in the 2020's, and therefore we'll likely start seeing an increase of nostalgic films set in the 2000's. (Back in the 90's, a lot of 70's nostalgia films were made, Dazed and Confused probably being the most awesome.) It reminded me that in the 2000's a lot of 80's nostalgia films started coming out, because of that whole 20 year nostalgia lapse.
I'm watching Take Me Home Tonight right now, which is set in the 80's.
